Striking techniques are also called “combatives” in Krav Maga terminology. Striking techniques are taught to apply in hand to hand fight with any attacker to cause the maximum damage to the attacker to defend oneself. Using different parts of the body to strike powerfully on the sensitive parts of the attacker are the basic tactics of Krav Maga self-defense system. Head, hands, elbows, knees, legs and heels are used to strike with full force to stop the assailant from harming you. Elbow striking techniques are effective when there is short distance between the attacker and the victim. Elbows are pointy and boney and forceful strike can cause a lot of pain. Even in the ground fighting elbows can neutralize the attacker in the floor. There are some effective elbow strike moves that are part of the Krav Maga training.
Elbow Strike from the Front
Elbow strike when standing up right in the front direction is very practical to stop the strike of the attacker. The front elbow strike is also useful when the assailant in front and you can use it to defend as well as counter strike on the neck, jaw or nose.
Elbow Strike Low Level
The low level elbow strike is used when you are caught in a bear hug. Putting all the weight in front makes the assaulter of balance and loosen the grip, at the same time striking with the elbow on the back side in the ribs, groin or knees can send severe pain signals to the attacker providing enough time window to get free and run.
High Level Elbow Strike
High level elbow strike is another move to use when the attacker is on the back side grabbing. To get loose from the grip try to sit on the ground and strike back on the face of the attacker with full force. Try to target jaw, nose or between the eyes for better results.
Elbow Strike on the Ground
Elbow strike in downward motion is effective when the assailant falls down or grab your feet. The direct hit on the back side of the head or neck can make the assaulter fully immobilize. Likewise, if the attacker put you to the ground with your face upwards then it is very strategic to use this strike defend yourself with any blow.
